Today we took the Brownies outside to explore the local urban area. This was towards the Urban paw print badge, as a part of the Growing Up Wild scheme that Girlguiding has put together to encourage leaders, like me, to take the girls outside more often to appreciate the great outdoors. The Brownies were very excited when they found out they were going outside!
We took the Brownies into town and played Kim’s Game at a shop front of a charity shop. This involves trying to memorise the items in the window, then we walked around the corner and did a quiz in their Sixes. They loved it! We then walked further along, over a grassy hill and past a few trees. When we got back to our usual meeting place, the Brownies had to draw a map of the route we had taken, from memory, including any nature they had spotted on the way. Below is my favourite map they drew, and even includes the grassy area too.
